How To Write Comedy | 1-2-3 Jokes! is a mini-module in my comedy course. It was designed by me after several students complained that they couldn’t think of anything to write about. They felt “uninspired.”
That’s very common in comedy and writing in general. If you talk to any comedian or comedy writer, I’m sure they will tell you about times where they felt flat and uninspired. You sit there thinking, “Have I been kidding myself this whole time?”
Well this exercise is a way to help you get out of that rut. 1-2-3 Jokes! is a step-by-step process that walks you through having nothing to write about to jokes in a matter of about 15 minutes. It’s simple, and the fool-proof steps will get you to write your set up line on a page so that you can take the next steps to finding the punchline by using the listing technique, shatter the presumption technique, or the many other formulas I teach in my full comedy courses on how to write jokes.
How do you access this mini-module? Just click the pdf icon below and it will appear on your computer. Or you can right-click it, (ctrl-click for Mac) and click ‘save as,’ choosing a file to save it as on your computer. That way you will have it available to you any time you need to reference it to get you writing again.
