Sketch Writing Module

Going back to the days of vaudeville sketch comedy has remained a popular short-form style of comedy. Whether it's Saturday Night Live, Kids in the Hall, Key & Peele, sketch comedy has been an audience favorite which is why we continue to see it on Late Night TV shows.
There's an old saying that people love to be given permission to misbehave and sketch comedy gives us this permission allowing us to explore a variety of characters and situations. It let's us take the stand-up jokes or bits (sometimes called skits) and put them into an interactive multiple character environment and turn them into sketches which usually last from 1 minute (on the short side) to 10 minutes, (on the long side). Where the characters explore a situation from their unique perspective.
In this module we will explore the fundamental basis where the jokes come from in sketch comedy and explore the three main types of sketches. Each lesson is designed in order. It would be wise not to jump ahead, but just work through each one and learn as you move through the lessons. Sometimes you might encounter blocks. That's when it's good to step away and view some of the sample videos so you can reengage with your creativity.
