About This Course
The Stand-Up Comedy Clinic is probably the most unique stand-up course in Los Angeles due to the instructor’s long list of credentials. The class is designed not only to teach the fundamentals of joke and routine writing, but also performance technique and training that surpasses that of anything being taught in L.A., because Corley not only teaches you how to write material but WHY & WHAT makes people laugh.
When you understand why people laugh it makes it a lot easier to write material to get them to laugh. Corley’s students move on very quickly to book gigs in stand-up, acting and writing simply because of the techniques learned in his classes.
Jerry Corley is a 27-year veteran of stand-up comedy. Jerry has a long career of touring on the road 40-43 weeks a year, playing colleges, clubs, cruises and corporates. Corley has also been an audience warm-up comedian for sitcoms; most notably Murphy Brown and Wings (two shows that were in the top 10 in their time slots).
Comedy Writing Career
Corley spent 8 years writing for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and has written for comedians like Chris Rock, Billy Hicks, Jay Leno and many others. Jerry recently created, co-wrote and Executive produced a major motion picture called “Stretch” starring Chris Pine, Ray Liotta and Jessica Alba.
